Everyday there’s a new breakthrough in the way we communicate with each other. Smart PDA and absurdly low budget netbooks PC are the latest affordable, continent to continent, electronic telegram, along with the new launch of all flavors and varieties of smart pads such as the Ipad. Its success or failure is yet to be seen, but one thing is for sure, your content has to be ready and available for everyone. As of right know, no smart phone and smart pad device, is capable of running those nifty and pretty Flash animations that we used, and still, love so much. It’s all about accessibility right now, instant and at your fingerprints. No matter you’re at home, commuting on the train or bus. Aim high, so everyone can see what you’re talking about, no matter what language or culture they’re from.

Braile Keyboard for open Accessibility
Most of the people that uses technology don’t think about it, but accessibility is one of the key elements for the success of any communication. Either by implementing a new website or a device, it’s a fundamental part of delivering your message. Is not just because there’s a world of different devices and firmware upgrades, or because of custom looks for one or another internet browser. Having your content accessible gets the job done, and helps your audience reach what they seek. Easy, without fancy plugins or complex hierarchy, just an easy path from A to B.
We can also say that one of its main advantages can be seen by a minority of blind users. They depend on the content being optimized as text and nothing else, they disregard any fancy image map and flash introduction. They seek the content that can ‘talk’ literally back to them.
Here’s a small summary out from The American Foundation for the blind website:
“Computer users who are blind usually use a screen reader for most computing activities. This, in simple terms, is a piece of software that “figures out” what is on the screen and sends information to a speech synthesizer to be spoken or to a Braille display. The screen reader provides not only output but to some extent an improved (from the blind user’s point of view) interface.”
Is your content ready for everyone ? Is important for your message to reach everyone ?

It’s hard to imagine all media converging into a single device or technology. One of nature’s greatest achievements involves its extensive diversity. Technology has had, and continues to show this paradigm repeated in an accolade of shapes, speeds, colors and forms, but in an extent we might end up doing everything with a few minor devices. Cloud computing has shown its power and characteristics. Buildings the size of many football stadiums, linked together to archive a miraculous computing power than is then translated into a powerful search result, video game connection or gps map triangulation in real time. All this served into a marvel and scratch small device that we carry around as if there was an extension of our own body. From the Rolodex, to the pager, to the personal organizer into a world of PDAs. High-end computer resources and power would never disappear, unlike the dinosaurs, but they would become less and fewer than today. The average user would not longer need an expensive and complicated system to browse the web, send email and even write a novel.
Dumb terminals, such as the historic france’s minitel would once again rule the world of telecommunications, but this time they would be tiny and look much cuter.
That’s one it’s extremely important that you content is ahead of its time. An accessible source for all types of access and systems. Mobile devices, webtv, netbooks and laptops alike. Don’t make it hard on your audience, let them reach you in any way imaginable, easier and faster.

One of the most common complains we get from new clients has to do with their online visibility and credibility.
“I have spent thousands on my website, but nobody sees it, we have been in business for a long time and most of the online clients don’t know us!”
We always like to think that this scenario is somewhat related to a good old forest analogy, with thousands of trees thick and wide as your imagination can think of, spanning on an area as big as your eyes can see. Inside this forest there’s a variety of species, shapes and forms. Each tree, each bark has its own roots. It talks about its own set of stories, hardships and seasons, but how can you tell one from the other if they all look alike from afar ? Mapping the entire forest can take a lifetime, and it might not be accurate enough since the forest evolves with every new dawn.
It crucial to establish your message, your tree, ASAP. Separate yourself from the forest, and optimize your communication for a unique experience. A most than memorable one, one that stands out from afar and can be translated into more traffic and credibility with your users.
SEO or Search engine optimization is just the beginning of a new season on the forest, It’s one of many paths that can put your message out there, to be seen from anybody, from anywhere.

Some people thought this was inevitable. Google was already investing on their voicemail system – aka Google Voice – So with the inclusion of Android it was clear that the search engine giant was just a step away from becoming a heavy weight contender on the smart phone arena.
First of all, I want to stand out Google’s intelligence and advantage. Their game is and always will be related to software, not hardware. Knowing which battles to fight is, in my opinion, one of the most important things for a company, and definitely even more important for a corporation.
We have seen so many examples of giants being driven to a technology arena they know nothing about, only to witness their downfall and collision course minutes after their launch – (Sony, Iomega). Marketing, strategy, narrow vision, It’s hard to say which one of these are responsible for the lack of understanding, but nevertheless not knowing, what’s worth for you and your business, your time and resources.
So far, little has been published about this new phone. Probably it would make use of Google’s vast knowledge, I wouldn’t be surprise to see a phone with only Voice over IP protocols, and completely inter twain system with all Google’s apps – Pretty much like an Android on its own network.
You might only need the infrastructure to give everyone access. This might be the most expensive part of the process – Techcrunch informs that either HTC or a Korean cellphone manufacture are taking the design blueprints to build it – Having the fast network thought out the entire country is not complicated, but an expensive task. Perhaps it’s time to give the balloon idea a whole new meaning!.

Many months have come by, and a true winner has arise from the ashes of the battle of the formats. No, I’m not talking about Vhs and Betamax. I’m specifically speaking about the famous Samsung HD-DVD and Sony Blu-ray conflict above the oceans of the High definition tempest. It’s valid to say that it was necessary to define a winner. Sony knows this very well from its past, how ugly can it be to be left out of the mainstream market. Nevertheless there’s a new trend on the rise and one that it was not completely foreseen by neither both technology titans. Current DVD sells are showing a steady and irrefutable down trend, and if we analyze the variety and diversity of portable media formats and devices, we can conclude on a sad but certain thing: You are willing to see your favorite show or movie on the go, and not necessarily with the highest audio and video quality. Is very interesting to see the opposite direction of the market. 30 and 20 years ago, all the advertising campaigns of the world made a clear statement about their latest and finest technology. This is just not the case anymore. Most of the manufacturing of electronics is made on the same region and quality control has been thrown out of the window in many cases. So where this scenario leaves us ?
It’s going to be a hard battle for Sony and for bluray in general. With cellphones, pmp players, ipods and a gazillion other gadgets the content is everywhere and instantly on your fingertips. There’s no need to go to the store to purchase a movie, and it’s even less likely that you would go to blockbuster for rental – even the movie selection at the store is extremely poor – Netflix watch on demand model seems like a response to this new trend, although it’s far from the outstanding quality of video and sound both titans were fighting for.

“May you live in interesting times”
The technology market, and specially the information market, keeps on turning and re-inventing themselves. We’re a couple days short from the launch of the new Motorola cellphone, aka Droid. You can have a peek at its design and you might instantly realize whose market share Motorola is trying to put its hands on. Motorola is doing a very big gamble by utilizing Google’s open source OS Android, since by all accounts the Motorola Razor was the last big thing for the Moto people. Google’s has adopted an more than interesting approach to this fragmented market. Instead of branding and endorsing a product for its characteristics and features, it’s just focusing in what they do best, and that is of course Software and Data mining. Apple has a long history for being a closed, efficient and sometime outstanding UI designer. It has a track record to prove so, even though not everyone is looking for the shiniest and prettiest devices sculpted out of some Unicorn’s horns. That’s why this are very interesting times for a industry and market that re-invents itself every so many months pushing the boundaries of technology and market strategy.
We can still remember how wrong Mr Gates predicted that cloud computing was just a big mistake, where computers and mobile devices would become more and more powerful to crunch data and graphics. He soon after had to retract himself and launch a new Microsoft cloud computing strategy for the next couple of years.
Regardless of who is wrong and who is right, this sure are interesting times to experiment and develop new ideas.
